Professor Jorge Zornberg, whose career in geosynthetics is almost as long as the IGS has existed, will give the opening talk for the IGS 40th Birthday Week Lectures on Monday, November 6. REGISTER HERE

Prof. Zornberg will talk about ‘The power behind learning geosynthetics, focusing on the importance of developing the range and accessibility of geosynthetics education. IGS Officer Edoardo Zannoni will host the session, taking place at 8am Central Time.

Multi-award-winning Prof. Zornberg has more than 35 years’ experience in practice and research in geotechnical and geosynthetics engineering. The former IGS President has authored more than 500 technical publications, written several book chapters, and been awarded three patents. The IGS also recently established the Zornberg Lecture, an honorary lecture recognizing his considerable contributions to geosynthetics.

Prof. Zornberg’s lecture is one of a series of exclusive talks taking place between November 6-10, marking four decades of the IGS. The lectures are an opportunity to reflect on where the IGS has come from and its ambitions for the future. The series culminates in a not-to-miss talk by geosynthetics pioneer J.P. Giroud on November 10 – the IGS’s birthday – hosted by IGS President Sam Allen.

The week also includes ‘Ask the Officer’ sessions with all five of the IGS Officers, where you have the chance to send in pre-submitted questions answered live. Questions should be sent to IGS Secretariat-Manager Elise Oatman at igssec@geosyntheticssociety.org. Include the name of the Officer you would like to answer your question.
