The IGS’ Technical Committees (TCs) promote the knowledge, design and methodologies related to geosynthetics and their associated technologies. The TCs are at the heart of IGS member engagement and are a platform for influence in the wider geotechnical engineering community.
The Committees are organised around four core specialisms:
- seepage loss, preventing infiltration, improving the flow of fluids, protecting groundwater and isolating contaminated soils
- drainage, erosion control and coastal protection
- reinforced soil walls and abutments; reinforced soil steep slopes; basal reinforcement of embankments on soft soil, on piles, and on voids; veneer reinforcement of shallow soil layers on slopes
- improved performance of bases and subbases of roadways, railways, airfields, and working platforms
All IGS members can apply to join a TC relevant to their expertise and sign up for emails from the TCs. Simply visit your personal profile page and select the TC membership link.
If you wish to establish a new TC, please contact Russell Jones, Chair of Technical Committee Coordination.
