IGS-Ghana Chapter (GhIGS) Elects New Executives

The Ghana Chapter of the IGS held elections and elected new executives following the expiry of the term of office of the previous board. The handing over ceremony was held at the Engineers Center in Accra on 5th September 2019. The outgoing president, Prof. Ampadu gave a brief background of the GhIGS and touched on the objectives and activities of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). He mentioned that GhIGS with support of the IGS successful hosted the second African Regional Conference on Geosynthetics in 2013 in Accra. The handing over ceremony was witnessed by the president of Ghana Institute of Engineering Ing. Leslie Ayeh.

The new executives pledged to focus on the following:

  • Mentorship of the young members
  • Make website more active and provide more information about the society
  • Get focal people in all the regions
  • To create a mobile money number to facilitate dues payment
  • Create a WhatsApp platform for GhIGS members for ease of flow of information
