The 4th African Regional Conference on Geosynthetics is less than a year away!
IGS Egypt (IGSE), one of the IGS’s newest Chapters, will host GeoAfrica 2022 on February 21-24, 2022. The conference was due to take place in October, this year, but had to be postponed because of the worldwide Covid disruption.
The conference theme is ‘Geosynthetics in Sustainable Infrastructures and Mega Projects’, reflecting the huge increase in the use of geosynthetics in mega-projects throughout the region.
The conference in Cairo, Egypt, will engage regional and international experts to raise awareness of technical advances, to facilitate participation in joint activities, exchange experiences, and build bridges.
IGS President Chungsik Yoo said: “As one of our newest chapters of the IGS we are all excited for them to initiate their activities with this important regional conference. It will act as a seed for IGSE future activities.
“We eagerly anticipate this event and look forward to regional and international participation from academics, consultants, producers, contractors, and project owners.”
Event highlights will include keynote speakers, workshops, a technical tour, and a young engineers’ session.
Abstract submission is open, with a new deadline of November 2, 2020. For full details and conference updates, visit the GeoAfrica 2022 website here.
