A speaker-rich programme of events has been announced for the upcoming 4th African Regional Conference on Geosynthetics (4th GeoAfrica).
Organisers IGS Egypt released an exciting schedule including talks from seven of the industry’s biggest names and fascinating sessions exploring geosynthetics in a range of environments.
The four-day event, running from February 20-23 at the Cairo Marriott Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, is themed around the topic ‘Geosynthetics in sustainable infrastructures and mega projects’. The programme includes:
- February 20 – Keynote talks by Peter Legg making the inaugural Kelvin Legge Lecture, and a virtual address by J.P. Giroud, and two workshops from the IGS Technical Committee on Hydraulic Applications on geosynthetics in canals, and geosynthetics in the marine environment. The evening welcomes IGS Corporate Members for an invited dinner.
- February 21 – Keynote speeches by Richard Bathurst and Jorge Zornberg, a workshop from the IGS Technical Committee on Barrier Systems, followed by two workshops from the IGS Technical Committee on Soil Reinforcement. The day concludes with a gala dinner in a revolving restaurant.
- February 22 – Keynote addresses by Chungsik Yoo, Daniele Cazzuffi and Malek Bouazza, two workshops from the IGS Technical Committees on Stabilization discussing stabilization basics, and applications. The day also includes the IGS Young Members papers competition.
- February 23 – site visits to Ain Sokhna power plant, the New Administrative Capital urban community, electric high-speed rail line, and Galala holiday resort.
