The Technical Committee on Barrier Systems (TC-B) is dedicated to the development of geosynthetics systems and associated technologies. This committee promotes the knowledge, technology, research findings, design, and construction methodologies related to geosynthetic barrier applications, such as guarding against seepage loss, preventing infiltration, improving the flow of fluids, protecting groundwater, and isolating contaminated soils in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering.


The TC-Barrier system of the IGS announces:

In 2019 the TC-B will be present at: and Whether a membership meeting will be held at those locations will be decided shortly.

The Committee is further pursuing the following tasks:
The TC-B has recently decided to create new leaflets on the topics:
Mining, landfill, environmental protection , agriculture, hydraulic engineering, coal ash and also generate out of these a basic powerpoint on geosynthetic barriers.

Future Activities of the TC-B

The TC-B has actively accomplished a discussion workshop and is planning one in 2019. Topics have not yet been decided yet.

Important note: In the past all TC-B members were contacted by IGS to fill out the new membership form, also due to the new GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) regulation. Members who have not completed to do so are otherwise no longer active members of the TC-B.
