An IGS special session on soil reinforcement will be held at one of the most notable geosynthetics conferences in East Asia this year.
More than 10 reinforced soil experts from around the world will speak at the event on November 3, part of the 11th Chinese National Conference on Geosynthetics taking place on November 1-4.
Additionally, IGS President Samuel Allen and IGS Treasurer Professor Jie Han are due to address delegates at the main conference, along with IGS Asian Regional Activities Committee chair Amir Shahkolahi and the chair of the IGS Technical Committee on Barrier Systems, Jonathan Shamrock. The IGS Foundation will also be represented at the event.
Huabei Liu, secretary of conference co-organizer IGS China, added: “We also hope to have some further discussions with the IGS officers and the Technical Committees and regional chairs on issues related to future IGS activities in China.”
The 11th Chinese National Conference on Geosynthetics & the International Symposium on the 40th Anniversary of China Technical Association on Geosynthetics (CTAG) will be held at Kaixuanmen Hotel (238 Tianshan Street), Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.
Hosted by CTAG every four years, it brings together researchers, engineers, scientific and technological professionals engaged in geosynthetics from around the world.
This year’s theme is ‘Green Digital Intelligence, Innovation Driven, Leading the High-quality Development of the Geosynthetic Industry’, focusing on the technological innovation and cooperation across the geosynthetics industry chain, and promoting the industry’s green, low-carbon, digital transformation and intelligent development.
Activities during the conference will include:
- Exhibition on geosynthetic products and equipment in China.
- The finals of the 6th Chinese National Reinforced Soil Retaining Wall Design Competition for college students.
- 3rd Geosynthetics Photo Contest.
- 2nd Forum on Geosynthetics Intelligent Manufacturing and Advanced Process Equipment.
- 11th National Symposium on Geosynthetic Product Performance and Testing Technology.
- 8th National Symposium on Geosynthetic Anti-seepage and Drainage.
- 9th National Symposium on Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil.
- Youth Salon – events for Young Members and students.
