SEMINAR OVERVIEW
The seminar will cover two aspects of geosynthetics and is aimed at providing the design professional with an overview of the key aspects to consider when designing with geosynthetics:
- Filtration is one of the fundamental functions of geosynthetics – but the least understood. A proper understanding of design methods will help the design engineer prevent clogging of the geotextile or piping of soils in dam design, revetments, sub-surface drainage etc.
- Learning from failures of structures incorporating geosynthetics is a powerful educational tool – and Dr JP Giroud will speak about the lessons learned from the failures in several areas of applications of geosynthetics.
