Any full-time registered student at a university, college or engineering school may become a student member of the IGS. An IGS 'contact member' will be appointed for each university, or similar establishment, where there are students interested in becoming student members of the IGS.

This contact member would:

• assist the students in organizing local activities (lectures, field trips, etc.);
• collect any local chapter fee and remit them together with completed student application forms to the IGS Chapter.
