Eligibility

Membership is open to individuals or corporations whose activities or interests are clearly related to the scientific, technological or practical development or use of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products and associated technologies. Most members (94%) belong to the IGS through chapters. An individual can elect membership in the IGS while refraining from membership in a chapter. Applications should be sent to the IGS Secretariat, either through the chapter or directly. The annual fee is:

for individual members: US $45.00
for corporate members: US $1000.00
for student members: US $0.00
chapter fees: as set by the chapter

Individuals or organizations who voluntarily contribute a minimum of US $ 200 annually to the Society, receive a special mention and are being listed separately as “benefactors” in the IGS directory of members.

Purpose

Being a member of the IGS

  • helps support the aims of the IGS
  • contributes to the advancement of the art and science of geotextiles, geomembranes and related products and of their applications
  • provides a forum for designers, manufacturers and users, where new ideas can be exchanged and contacts improved
  • is a unique way to become increasingly informed, involved and influential in the field of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products and associated technologies.

Specific Benefits

  • a membership card
  • an IGS lapel pin
  • on-line access to the IGS Membership Directory, published yearly, with full addresses, telephone, email and telefax numbers of members (policy for the preparation of the IGS Membership Directory)
  • a Newsletter, IGS NEWS, published three times a year
  • on-line access to the 19 IGS Mini Lecture Series for the use of the membership
  • on-line access to the 3 IGS Videos for the use of the membership
  • information on test methods and standards
  • discount rates
    • for any document published in the future by IGS (see order form)
    • at all international, regional or national conferences organized by the IGS or under its auspices
  • preferential treatment at conferences organized by the IGS or under its auspices
  • possibility of being granted an IGS award
  • the Journal Geosynthetics International is now published electronically for the IGS members. Current issues are available on the Thomas Telford website (www.thomastelford.com/geosynthetics). Back issues are available on the IGS website (www.geosyntheticssociety.org). Access to the journal is a benefit of membership.
  • the Journal Geotextiles and Geomembranes is available free electronically for IGS members. Current issues are available from Elsevier at: (https://cs.sciencedirect.com/activate/geotexmem/members). Access to the journal is a benefit of membership.

  • advertisement in the IGS Member Directory and on the IGS Website
  • IGS Corporate Membership Plaque
  • your Company Profile in the IGS NEWS
  • right of using the IGS logo at exhibitions and in promotional literature
  • priority (by seniority of membership within the IGS) at all exhibits organized by the IGS or under its “auspices”
