IGS

The International Geosynthetics Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the scientific and engineering development of geosynthetics and associated technologies. Geosynthetics are synthetic products used in civil engineering, such as fabrics (geotextiles), flexible membranes (geomembranes), etc. The IGS has 1906 individual members and 126 corporate members from 68 countries, as well as 95 student members. There are 31 national or regional chapters of the IGS representing 94% of the membership. The membership includes those who are involved in the teaching, design, manufacture, sale, use or testing of geosynthetics.

GIGSA

The mission of The Geosynthetics Interest Group of South Africa (GIGSA) is to be a non-profit organization dedicated to the scientific and engineering development of geosynthetics and associated technologies in South Africa.

SAICE

Mission Statement: To advance professional knowledge and improve the practice of civil engineering

In support of SAICE's mission, SAICE strives:

    to be a learned society for all those associated with Civil Engineering;
    to enable our members, through consultation and accountability, to provide the community with environmentally and economically sustainable infrastructure;
    to cater for the interests and needs of our members by creating an effective communication channel in a strong, dynamic and stable organisation;
    to provide our members with continuing education in technical, managerial and communication skills;
    to advance and uphold the professional ethics of the civil engineering profession;
    to enhance the recognition of civil engineering as a highly respected profession and a desirable career; and above all, to encourage our members to strive for excellence in civil engineering.

SAIEG.  The aims of the South African Institute for Engineering and Environmental Geologists (SAIEG) may be described as follows:

  • The promotion and advancement of the profession of Engineering Geology
  • The establishment and maintenance of high standards of ethical and professional conduct
  • The promotion of education in geology and engineering geology
  • The liaison with related organizations
  • The distribution of information to members
  • The adherence to the principles of Integrated Environmental Management
  • Striving to protect the environment
  • The adherence to the principles of sustainable development

geosynthetica.net is a free-access technical, educational and promotional resource for the geosynthetics industry. The site houses technical documents, titles and abstracts of geosynthetic publications, CQA plans, standards, industry news, industry directory, & much more. On behalf of its Underwriters, geosynthetica.net collaborates with user group associations, publications & websites to deliver geosynthetics education and technology. We create training, make presentations, write articles and deliver geosynthetics web content for user groups (dams, mining, specification, etc.).

IWMSA

Mission: The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) is committed to protecting the environment and people of Southern Africa through sustainable best practical environmental options by:

  • Contributing to improving waste management standards and legislation
  • Supporting international, national and regional, trends in best environmental practices
  • Promoting the science and technology of waste management
