Swiss Association for Geosynthetics SVG

The Swiss Association for Geosynthetics SVG is open to all interested. It was founded in 1981 by members who are developing, producing, selling, testing or using technical textiles in civil engineering. It promotes the use of the construction material "geosynthetics" and checks quality from production to installation. The Association takes part in elaborating Swiss standards for geosynthetics and intervenes in case of nonconforming or faulty bid documents. With publications and events it informs the users regarding technical options and correct use of geotextiles and geogrids.

Priority Actions

• Between 1983 and 1996, SVG has edited the first Swiss Geotextile Manual, a standard work for German and French speaking countries.
• In summer 2003, the SVG has edited a new Geosynthetic Design Manual (German) under the title "Bauen mit Geokunststoffen" which contains theoretical topics as well as practical indications to design constructions by using geosynthetics.
• SVG publishes every year the Geofabrics Product Catalogue which contains the controlled minimum and maximum values of over 100 geosynthetics marketed by various producers. The data are varified periodically on samples found on the market.
• SVG further keeps an Internet Homepage (http://www.geotex.ch), informing about the basics, products, projects and events. The above-mentioned catalogue is presented as an interactive application.
